Devious

Born in a small town not far from Adelaide better known for its wine than DJs, Chad Bergman aka Devious grew up with a B boy attitude, listening to hip hop, doing graffiti and break dancing. After sneaking into Arkabar one night he discovered a whole new world, from the first second he heard the beats and saw the people dancing he was hooked. Since then Devious has become quite simply Adelaide's favourite and most respected big party DJ. A career built on over ten years of DJing; Devious is a strong part of the Adelaide scene taking out the award for Adelaide’s most popular techno DJ in 2003, awarded by the South Australian Dance Music Awards and is still currently holds this title after winning again this year in June 2007.

Devious is renowned through out Australia as one for the hardest working DJs behind the decks. He has huge local and national following and massive dance floor appeal. His slammin, uniquely hypnotic and powerful style teamed with an amazing mixing ability and passion for tekno has seen him appear regularly at clubs and playing monster music festivals in his home town and around Australia including Storm (WA) Every Picture Tells A Story, Acid Reign, Earthcore, War Of The Worlds ,MTC , Atmosphere (VIC) Two Tribes (SA & VIC), Enchanted Forest, Stardust (Carl Cox warm up set - SA), Hyper Tropic Reaction (CRN), System 6 (Brisbane)to name a few. Devious always comes armed with a crate full of belting tek-funk; once this bloke gets started there is no stopping him! Sure to impress the tekno enthusiasts. Devious has had two guest spots on triple JJJ’s mix-up and in July 2006 while in London was invited to play on Ministry of Sound Radio on the show ONE LOVE, broadcasting around the world and live to SKY TV. Whilst in London Devious was doing guest spots at the legendary hot spot Fuel in Vauxhall and Think in Bristol along side one of tekno’s main players Trevor Rockcliffe. In 2007 Deviouis heading over seas playing in Japan , Okinawa , London and Leeds. On the other side of the decks, Devious is part of Adelaide's most influential production company, The Enchanted Crew, taking out Promoter of the Year and Party of the Year 6 consecutive years running at the South Australian Dance Music Awards.

December 1998 saw the beginning of The Enchanted Forest phenomenon which has become Adelaide’s biggest outdoor dance festival smashing attendance records year after year. Growing at a phenomenal rate these parties have again created an enviable reputation for Adelaide throughout Australia and perhaps more importantly the world. Enchanted Forest is an Adelaide Icon reaching a world class level.

If DJing and Promoting isn’t enough to keep one man busy, in 2002 Devious looked for more out of music and embarked on a mission to bring his sound to the world. He teamed up with long time friend and studio partner Pete Delete they started making music together and since then their sound has mutated into a fusion of no holds barred techno with a hip hop and break beat influence. The Turbofunk studio was born. Devious has had the opportunity to work in the studio with Ignition Technician, Mike Humphries, Rewerx, Geezer, Mark Tyler and James Rudd.
